DO THE WRITE THING on Feb 13th: Green Island Vineyard

Volunteers have distributed approximately 5,000 flyers to doorsteps  against Measure L, which re-zones the 157-acre open space Green Island Vineyard for development, mostly industrial.

NOW let’s reach out to the City Council directly with a postcard campaign! The goal is simple: just hand write a brief message asking for a conservation easement. A handwritten letter is deeply personal and unusual in our modern time of email and now AI. Let your request stand out! And of course, if an email or phone call is what you can manage now, that is absolutely great. Any form of contact is better than none at all.

Politely ask them to NOT take the easy “business as usual” route of re-zoning to industrial. The latter is more profitable to the business owners and the city, from a tax revenue perspective. Remember, we already said NO to the owners for re-zoning to industrial with Measure J, which failed in 2022; the owners spent over $220,000 on Measure J.

If you have a favorite pen or writing supplies, you are welcome to bring them or simply use ours! ACE will supply postage and/or deliver them in-person to City Council.

If you can’t join us, you are also welcome to write your cards or letters from home! The Committee against Measure L has provided us with a detailed rationale of opposition.
